CIVIC

SECTOR LEAD :

Neil Chapman

Public buildings and spaces, from town halls and libraries to market squares and public parks, are fundamental to the health and well-being of communities.  Well-designed, confident civic buildings create a sense of pride and belonging as well as providing important functions for local people and visitors.

As well as new buildings, invariably we work with existing assets, many of them from the 19th and early 20th century, creating civic buildings and public realm projects for today’s generation and those to come.

Our portfolio of civic projects is hugely diverse and includes crown courts, libraries, town halls and a many public spaces.

Communities function best when decisions are made with them and not imposed upon them and we promote full engagement from the public themselves in the civic buildings and spaces we design.  A commitment to accessibility, affordability and respect for the existing urban fabric is essential for any civic project to provoke a true sense of ownership and inclusion.
