Cardiff Studio Secures Further Growth Following Project Wins

Austin-Smith:Lord’s Cardiff Studio has had one of its most successful years, securing a raft of new business contracts with a total construction value of over £90m.

This has enabled us to expand our local operations and undertake a significant employment programme, adding experienced project architects and new graduates to our ‘creative collective’ of talented staff.

New contracts in Wales include two affordable housing developments with a construction value of £20m for Cardiff Community Housing Association; the new £13m Sports Complex on the Cyncoed Campus at Cardiff Metropolitan University; and the development of proposals for the new £11m Aberdare Campus at Coleg y Cymoedd. The practice has recently delivered the £23m Ysgol Bro Dinefwr in Llandeilo and is currently working on a further £45m of school designs.

Martin Roe, Austin-Smith:Lord Partner and Cardiff Studio Principal, says “We are delighted to expand our role in supporting the economic, social and environmental success of Wales and it is extremely encouraging to see not only a continuation of investment in vital facilities such as schools, colleges and affordable housing projects, but also a growing commitment amongst clients towards high quality, sustainable design.

“We look forward to delivering our nationally recognised expertise across a wide range of sectors, from transport and infrastructure, education and urban regeneration through to arts and culture, conservation, landscape and urban design, to more exciting projects in this region over coming years.”
