St Teilo's Church In Wales High School
Austin-Smith:Lord was appointed as Concept Architect and Design Team Leader for this 1380 pupil, new build high school, through Mott MacDonald, under the Buying Solutions Framework. The school was funded through Tranche 3 of the Welsh Government 21st Century Schools Programme.
A highly collaborative approach was adopted, working closely with Cardiff Council and Church in Wales representatives in collaboration with the design team to achieve an integrated and high quality design proposal.
The design benefitted from workshops with Cardiff Council’s educational team, representatives from the school and its Governors, and other Project Stakeholders including parents and teachers.
Our appointment included RIBA Work Stages A-D subsequently extended to include Stage E. Following successful completion of this work, we were engaged in an ongoing client advisory role also including assisting with furniture procurement.
Austin-Smith:Lord listened to the vision for a state of the art Faith School espousing Christian values. They facilitated a design consultation with staff and governors enabling each subject area to contribute their ideas. They have safeguarded the overall original vision with its important design concepts and understood the demands of the 21st century learning environment that we seek to create.
