Richmond Society Award for The Great Pagoda

Austin-Smith:Lord has been presented with the Richmond Society Award for our recent restoration of the Great Pagoda, Kew Gardens.

The project, completed in July this year, has returned the iconic building back to its original splendour and recreated the eighty timber dragons which have become synonymous with the Pagoda.

David Millar, Head of Conservation at Austin-Smith:Lord said “It is wonderful to receive this award from the Richmond Society – the first the Pagoda has won following its careful restoration by Austin-Smith:Lord in close collaboration with Historic Royal Palaces and the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew. The Society care passionately about the environment around them, and this echoes our thoughts on the importance of the quality of architectural design that surrounds us and the importance of saving and restoring unique historic buildings such as the Pagoda at Kew. A remarkable project and a worthy winner
