Jack joined Austin-Smith:Lord in September 2026, bringing experience across commercial, education, office and residential sectors, with a diverse range of projects spanning different scales and complexities.

His recent experience includes an international mixed-use development, alongside work on heritage projects and the restoration of listed buildings. Jack also has expertise in negotiating planning policies, business and resource planning and the production of tender packages.

Jack’s interest in sustainable design has continued throughout his career, including his role as Studio Champion at CT, developing his knowledge and actively mentoring others both within and outside the workplace.

Alongside his professional experience, Jack’s studies combined practical workplace experience with creative university projects, for which he was awarded the BAA prize. His undergraduate studies were dual accredited, giving him a strong understanding of the coordination between sustainable architectural design and building services.

Senior Architectural Technologist

Tom joined Austin-Smith:Lord in August 2026 as a highly experienced Chartered Senior Architectural Technologist, bringing over 14 years’ industry experience across all stages of the project lifecycle, from concept and planning through to detailed design and completion.

Tom has worked across a diverse range of sectors, including commercial, education, healthcare, industrial, sport and leisure, with particular expertise in housing and residential projects.

His experience spans both refurbishment and new-build developments, as well as involvement in recladding projects and experience working with high-risk buildings. His broad technical knowledge and experience make him a valuable addition to the team.

Prior to joining Austin-Smith:Lord Tom worked primarily in Bristol and London and spent a year teaching and living in China.

Outside of work interests include hiking, kayaking, playing the guitar, archery, painting, photography, reading, and traveling.

Charlotte joined Austin-Smith in August 2026 after completing her Master’s in Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Dundee.

Charlotte has experience working across a range of sectors, including residential, community, and civic projects, collaborating within multidisciplinary design teams. Contributing to early-stage design development, preparing planning applications and building warrant submissions, and undertaking site surveys to support project delivery.

She has been proficient in Revit since 2022, using it throughout her academic studies and professional experience to develop coordinated design and technical information.

Charlotte is currently working as part of the team on the Clyde Mission Strategic Masterplan and the Clackmannanshire Learning Estate Strategy, contributing to the continued development and delivery of these significant projects.

Junior Interior Designer

Cerys joined Austin-Smith:Lord in July 2026 after graduating from the University of South Wales (USW) with First Class Honours in Interior Design. During her final year, she collaborated with the Wales Millennium Centre to develop an award-winning concept for a new café space, which is now progressing into development.

As part of our interiors team, Cerys contributes to projects across the practice’s four UK studios, supporting every stage of the design process from concept creation and planning through to technical development and project delivery.

Cerys supports the team by researching precedent studies, preparing client presentations and RIBA stage documentation, producing technical drawings and finish details, developing FF&E schedules, refining bespoke design elements, and curating material palettes that help bring each project’s vision to life.

Architect

Owain joined Austin-Smith in June 2026, bringing experience in heritage, planning and conservation.

His work is underpinned by a broad understanding of the physical, social and policy contexts that inform the historic environment. He has experience preparing Heritage Statements, undertaking architectural research, and providing heritage advice to support the sensitive conservation, adaptation and reuse of historic buildings.

Owain has developed strong technical expertise through his involvement in a range of large-scale heritage, conservation and creative reuse projects, across all RIBA work stages.

Fluent in both Welsh and English, Owain’s bilingual skills has helped facilitate projects and engagement with a wide range of stakeholders.

Outside of work, Owain enjoys hiking and running, and is a member of the Carmarthen Triathlon Club.

Marketing Manager

 

Sarah joined Austin-Smith:Lord in May 2026 as Marketing Manager developing and delivering integrated marketing and communications strategies.

Sarah’s focus is helping us communicate more clearly and consistently, turning the thinking and intent behind our work into stories that resonate with clients, collaborators and the wider design community. From shaping case studies and project narratives to strengthening our bid and tender submissions, Sarah works across all four of our studios to build a sustainable, practice-wide approach to marketing.

Sarah has an Interior Architecture Degree and Business Management Degree as well as over 20 years’ experience working within the Architecture, Interior Design and Graphic Design industry.

Senior Architect

Tom joined Austin-Smith:Lord in June 2026 with over 10 years’ experience and proven track record in leading large scale commercial and residential developments across the North West.

As Project Architect, Tom has been responsible for delivering a number of high-profile projects, producing planning applications, tender and construction documentation, managing multidisciplinary project teams, and overseeing projects through the construction phase.

Tom works collaboratively with clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of design and quality.

Technically accomplished, with a passion for sustainable innovation and specialist expertise in passive fire protection, Tom is committed to creating beautiful, user-focused spaces while ensuring full regulatory compliance.

Claudia joined Austin-Smith:Lord in 2025 while completing her Master’s degree in Architecture at Liverpool John Moores University, where she also earned a First-Class BA (Hons). During her undergraduate studies, she was nominated for both the AJ Student Award and the RIBA Bronze Medal in recognition of her creative design work and illustrative skills.

She is passionate about designing spaces that are accessible and inclusive, ensuring that the needs of all users are considered and respected. This commitment aligns closely with our practice’s ethos of enhancing quality of life and promoting positive mental and physical wellbeing through thoughtful design.

Claudia brings her Part 2 experience in both building design and master planning across the education, healthcare, and residential sectors. She has contributed to early-stage design development, participated in client meetings, and supports the multidisciplinary collaborative process that shapes each unique project. Eager to learn and grow, Claudia embraces new challenges and is always keen to deepen her understanding of architecture in practice.
