STUDIO LEADERSHIP : CARDIFF

Lee joined Austin-Smith:Lord’s Cardiff studio in 2020. He has worked on award-winning buildings in England and Wales, including the Wales Millennium Centre and the National Museum of History in St Fagans which won the RSAW Conservation and Building of the Year 2019 awards and was the winner of the Art Fund Museum of the Year, 2019.

Since joining Austin-Smith:Lord, Lee has been active in the Education, Residential, Cultural and Conservation sectors. He believes that the best part of being an Architect is the relationships. Believing that building good relationships will build good projects and key to this is communication. That communication needs to be inclusive and transparent. He believes that the very best ideas will not be realised if they are not effectively communicated. Clear communication is the backbone to every good idea.

Tom Barker

Tom Barker

STUDIO LEADERSHIP : BRISTOL

Tom joined the Bristol studio shortly after it was founded in 2016. Since then he has been focussed on building the reputation of the Bristol Studio through design quality and developing regional relationships. Tom has continued on to become the Studio Leader in Bristol Studio responsible for promoting a positive Design Studio Culture and continuing the work of developing business relationships in the South West.

Tom has a particular interest in environmental and social impacts of architecture. Key to this is the narrative architecture can have in a community, from project conception to long term use of the building. In recent years Tom has been active in Education, Arts and Culture, Civic and Residential sectors.

Tom is an excellent and confident communicator in large project teams, and within community engagement. He is experienced in leading and delivering BIM Level 2 projects and implementing the 3D modelling for coordination, and public engagement. He thoroughly enjoys engaging with clients, stakeholders and the design teams and values good relationships and communication as the key to successful projects.

Alexandros Veloudis

Alexandros Veloudis

MSc Conservation

STUDIO LEADERSHIP : GLASGOW

Alexandros studied at the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, Greece. He then carried out his postgraduate studies at the TU Delft and has obtained an MSC in Architectural Conservation from ESALA at the University of Edinburgh. He has worked for several practices in Greece.

Alexandros is an RIBA Conservation Registrant and an Affiliate Member to the IHBC. He provides design development, conservation consultation, BIM, draughting and graphics across various projects. Alexandros is part of the Austin-Smith:Lord Conservation Team and the Knowledge Management Team.

Victoria Slater

Victoria Slater

STUDIO LEADERSHIP : CARDIFF

Victoria graduated from Liverpool University School of Architecture in 2015 having completed her Master in Architecture and achieved a First Class honours in both her Degree and Masters course. Following graduation Victoria joined the practice’s Cardiff studio and recently qualified as an architect, gaining her Part 3 supported by an excellent range of work experience and Austin-Smith:Lord’s Graduate Development and Training Programme.

Victoria’s relationship with Austin-Smith:Lord began having won one of the 2014 RIBA Wren Insurance Scholarships awarded to just five students across the whole of the UK. Through this award Victoria received mentoring from senior architects with the practice during her Thesis project on Care Cooperative in rural environments, using care in the community as a driver for sustainable regeneration in post-industrial villages.

Victoria has a passion for excellence in design and for projects that have the potential to regenerate and enhance communities. She is currently focusing on a range of projects, particularly those within the education and social housing sectors and has already established a great portfolio of project experience including the award winning new Aberdare Campus for Coleg y Cymoedd.

Rhiannon Davies

Rhiannon Davies

STUDIO LEADERSHIP : LIVERPOOL

Rhiannon joined Austin-Smith:Lord in 2014 having gained experience in Project Management as a graduate, after studying at the University of Liverpool.

Rhiannon has gained experience being involved in many large-scale projects, spanning multiple sectors. This has been primarily centred around Arts and Culture and Higher Education, where a community focus features at the heart of her work. Expanding on this, Rhiannon also has experience working in Transport and Leisure, broadening her knowledge. Rhiannon has enjoyed working on both new build and refurbishment projects, including those in listed buildings, and has had the benefit of working with a combined approach where required.

She prides herself on having a keen eye for detail and cross discipline coordination, developed through working closely with diverse project teams throughout the design stages. Rhiannon values the working relationships developed throughout the course of projects, and aims to instil a positive and creative design process.

Rhiannon maintains strong links with both the University of Liverpool and John Moores University, valuing the opportunity to join regular student review panels at both schools.

Rhiannon is also a member of our Studio Leadership team in Liverpool alongside Adam and Mesha.

Adam Sunderland

Adam Sunderland

Adam joined Austin-Smith:Lord in 2006 with more than 13 years domestic and foreign experience in design, technical and project management. He has worked with four award winning practices. His experience encompasses public and private sectors with involvement in civic, healthcare, education, residential and hotel projects. Adam became an associate in 2013.

Neil Alexander

Neil Alexander

STUDIO LEADERSHIP : GLASGOW

Neil joined Austin-Smith:Lord in 2008, progressing from a year out ‘part 1’ student of the Mackintosh School of Architecture to a qualified architect. He makes a strong contribution to the Glasgow Studio, running a number of large scale projects.

Neil has gained significant experience in the fields of social housing, transportation and education through various developments in and around the West of Scotland, Northern England, South Wales and the Middle East. Working on both design & build and traditionally procured contracts, Neil has gained a rounded knowledge of sector requirements, varied construction techniques and design standards utilising drawn, CAD and BIM software packages to progress design and construction information.
